Are the Bahama's in Verizon's US coverage??

Going on a cruise to the Bahama's and wondering if my data plan will work in the Bahama's??

I know just crossing to the Canadian side of the Falls, I got a message that said something about being billable for leaving the country, even though, I could still see the USA a couple hundred yards away.

So, have a bad feeling that it's not going to work in the Bahama's??

Anyone know??

What I would recommend is contact customer care and request to add International Features (Referred to as I-dial)

It's $15/Month I believe, And you can just remove it after the cruise.


There are a few qualifications for this.

No hotlines or suspends in the past 90 days.
No written off account's under the account owners SSN in the past 7 years.
No returned payments in the past 90 days.
No voluntary disconnects. (don't worry, Rarely checked for)


Off Topic: I went to the Bahamas about a year ago on the Carnival Ecstasy. Had a great time. I'm sure you will too!

I'm not sure if this would allow it to work while you're outside of the USA. I think this allows you to just make calls internationally and only to certain countries.
 
I have the Droid Bionic today, but will hopefully have the HTC-One by the cruise, or even the HTC One Max, if Verizon ever gets their act together!!
 
One thing you HAVE to watch out for is roaming data charges. Unless the international plan specifically mentions data it will be billed at exorbitant roaming rates. Could be Thousands of Dollars for a one-week trip. And using the WiFi on cruise ships is no bargain either.

Yeah, will probably just use regular 3G/4G when close enough to the states to get a signal.

It's going to be weird to go a few days with no internet, but, hey, it is suppose to be a vacation, lol...

Trying to figure out how to use the offline maps, with the GPS though. Looks like if I save pieces/parts of the map offline, the GPS should still probably work with the offline maps??
 
Turn your phone off and put it in the safe on your room, and leave it there till you get off the ship. I always have my face buried in my phone, and it was a refreshing change to not touch it for a week.
