Are you happy with KitKat on the Droid Maxx?

Am I good to avoid it or should I just get it over with since I've only had the phone for a week and won't have as much to compare it to?

I wouldn't mind the camera upgrade, but I'm worried about the problems I'm seeing here.
 
I like it, 'cept for the battery drain...could stand some tweeking. I think most of the problems are caused by either user ignorance, or app compatibility. Clearing the cache, or reinstalling the app solves most problems.
 
I don't use Bluetooth. If it was me I would upgrade to Kit Kat and immediately do a Factory Data Reset. That would establish the base to operate from for a good long while.

(Yes I am on Kit Kat and yes I did do a Factory Data Reset.)

If you can tolerate mild Bluetooth instability and your battery going from "epic" to "just REALLY good" then have at it. Otherwise, wait for 4.4.2.

Personally, given the choice, I would go back to 4.2.2 until something better comes along.
 
The ability of the new Assist app to change the Bluetooth output for driving mode notifications fixed a problem for me (albeit not a huge problem.) I'm pretty sure that it requires 4.4.

Otherwise, 4.2.2 was great. I do hope that we get a 4.4.2 update. I'm 99% sure that we will, but I'll truly believe it when I see it.
 
My only complaint is that the upgrade broke the ability for my phone to automatically connect to the bluetooth adapter in my car when I get it. It worked fine before, and I can still automatically connect to most other BT devices I own, but for some reason ever since upgrading I can only connect to my car if I go into bluetooth settings and manually connect to it there.
 
Very happy with 4.2.2 and not going to upgrade, battery great, Bluetooth flawless and love wireless foxfi....
 
I'm still on 4.2.2 also. For me its the hot spot issue. I like my hotspot. 4.2.2 is solid and does what I need it to. I am not upgrading for the foreseeable future.

I think I may have had similar BT issues after the KitKat update, but I just uninstalled the offended devices and reinstalled them. Since then all had worked just fine. On my Maxx, Jelly Bean had some BT/voice command issues that I could not resolve, but KitKat fixed. I realize most of you have unlimited data, hence no free wireless hotspot, but I use the wireless hotspot regularly and it hooks up perfectly. I haven't noticed and difference in battery life, either. All in all, I am completely happy with 4.4.

I actually tried that. In fact, I got to the point of factory resetting my phone in order to ensure that everything was cleared out. No luck.
I actually set up a tasker profile to help diagnose the issue- whenever a bluetooth device connected or disconnected, it would flash up a quick notification. I noticed that whenever I turned my car on, I'd get a a connection and disconnection notice in rapid succession. So it looks like the phone connects for a split second and then drops the connection immediately until I manually force it to connect. However, other things like my headset, external speaker and home telephone system all connect just fine now- the only one giving me issues is the car adapter.
 
Now that's weird because I use the exact same adapter in my Jeep. I don't have any trouble connecting, it's just that no matter what I'm connected to it will randomly drop the connection and I have to recycle it. Not frequently mind you, but it didn't happen at all before 4.4.
 
From what I have read about the Moto X 4.4.2 update, Bluetooth improvements are one of the benefits. I do hope that we get the update. I've heard that the AT&T version of the Moto X is finally soak testing; maybe that means our phones are right around the corner?
 
I haven't yet upgraded, but I'm dealing with being asked every 23 hours and 59 minutes. :)

I do use a bluetooth connection to my car for calls. If it were to become inconsistent with an upgrade.....is it solved by you choosing bluetooth while on the call, or do you have to get out of the call and reconnect? That seems like it would defeat the purpose of the hands-free functionality.

And what about keyboards? I don't pull one out often, but it is useful occasionally.

I am looking forward to some of the features I'm reading about that are app specific under kitkat.....like seeing texts, etc. on the computer and some of the voice control updates.

I just hesitate to gain new features at the expense of the basic "phone" features.

I have 4.2.2 and have no problem seeing texts on my computer and tablet, use mighty text.
