My dad works in land management (any where from 5 acres, to 1,500) and is trying to find an app that will let him measure area, as well as distance.
he has been using 'GPS Area measure'- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oceanicsoftware.gpsarea_free&hl=en
the problem is that the google earth background they use is not up to date with construction that happened 20 days ago(or often difficult to use when standing under Dense tree cover)and you need to place each point, so he needs an app that can track the distance (or area of a field after he traverses the perimeter) in live time with GPS tracking.
