Hello Techohelp. If you will let us know which S2/carrier you have, we will move your thread into the specific discussion area for you. That's where you will get the best assistance.

Thanks Techohelp. There are a number of different Samsung S2 phones across a number of different carriers. Such as AT&T, Boost, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. I'd like to move your thread into the area for your phone/carrier area. That's where it can get help for your specific phone. Thanks

You delete apps and widgets using the App Manager. Tap on your menu button, choose settings, Storage, USB storage, Applications then when in the Application manager tap on an app or widget and choose uninstall from the menu that will open. You cannot uninstall Manufacturer/Carrier installed apps unless you are rooted.

That doesn't sound right at all. Is this a real Samsung or a Chinese fake? Like a real S2 with 16GB(mass storage) should not be running out of storage unless you managed to completely fill it.

Ok - It seems that the apps I can uninstall use little space and the ones which take more space are not able to be uninstalled. Thinking would it work of I transfer them to SD card ?

Yes it's a real Samsung n i have pics on storage card

But you said "I'm getting the msge storage space running out etc. Device memory 2GB used, 16mg free.". And you're getting the low memory warning icon showing up in notifications? A phone that's supposed to have 16GB internal storage should not be doing that, unless it really has low internal storage available.

You can store all the photos and videos you like on the SD, because that's external storage.

The S2 has 16GB storage in total, but it's partitioned into a 2GB /data partition and an "internal sd card". This was a Gingerbread phone originally, so pre-dates unified storage, and as I recall Samsung kept the same partitioning when they upgraded to 4.x (removing it would wipe the phone, and an OTA which did that would annoy a lot of people).

So actually an S2 with 2GB "internal storage" sounds pretty plausible to me.

My puzzle is how it got down to 16MB free? It should have complained earlier than that.

Try clearing app caches, checking whether any apps are using a lot of data. App data use the same space as apps

If you are a heavy texter with pictures or have a lot of email stored, those are all kept in databases on the internal partition. You should look as see if deleting some of the old stuff doesn't fee up some space for you.
