Help Asphalt 7 running being laggy

I've been playing asphalt 7 and I cant help but notice how inconsistent the frame rate is; it mostly runs around 20-30 fps but it goes under that quite often. On the 4s it runs much smoother which annoys me! Is there any way to improve performance in games without rooting? The Adreno 225 should get much better fps.
