ROMs Aspiring android developer

I've enjoyed flashing custom ROMs for a couple years now and I have a lot of free time and I really want to learn how to make my own custom ROMs. How should I go about doing this and is there any way I can learn for free? I know quite a bit about technology and I've learned everything I know thanks to Google. Is it possible to learn these things the same way?

Im a developer highly experienced its free to learn it, you do not have to be scammee that sites tells you that you have to pay to lean it, but you dont, i can can teach you alot if you wish and help yoi build your first rom
