Assign Custom Ringtones

Good morning all,

I tried to assign custome rigntones for few people.

I did go to People -> click contact name that I want to change -> under Information tap, click Ringtone -> change rington...

But, it doens't work. I have two cell phones so i did try.
I thought that ringtone that I made was wrong, but I go to Setting -> Personalize -> change default rington for same MP3 file. it works!!

However, I couldn't make it for specific contact.
Is there any thing that i did it wrong or should I turn on or off something?

Open your contact. Select Menu > Options > Ringtone.

Easy peasy.

That's what I did it. but, it's not taking it!! even it shows that I changed it. but, when I call from other phone...ring default ringtone.

Thought I'd add to this old thread rather than starting a fresh one for the same problem.

I can't assign a custom ringtone at all. I select the contact, open the custom ringtone dropdown and select a file. It previews OK (and I've tried selecting one of the HTC set) but when I click OK it still shows 'default' and nothing changes.

How can I persuade the people app to allow the custom ringtone to change?

On a HTC Desire S.
