Hi all. Is it possible to get my Note 9 to sound a specific tone when I receive an email (Gmail app) - this is different to the general notification tone. Thank you.

Thanks Tommo. I have just tried this, and it does work. But the same sound appears on the other notifications such as sms. I was after a separate sound for emails onlyHi Mark, yes, open your Gmail app, scroll down to "Settings' tap and go to to 'Manage notifications', tap on 'Sound' to choose your sound from the list.
In other words, I don't want the default sound for notifications for my emails. Thanks Tommo. I have just tried this, and it does work. But the same sound appears on the other notifications such as sms. I was after a separate sound for emails only
If you changed Gmail's sound to something other than default, it should now have a different sound than SMS. Unless SMS happens to have the same sound assigned to it.But the same sound appears on the other notifications such as sms. I was after a separate sound for emails only
In my Gmail app, the tone assigned is the one I want for emails. But it seems to have applied this is a default for all notifications, despite what the messages app says in settingsIf I goto messages, settings, notifications, general notifications, it says under sound part "Yoda" - this is the file I want for sms. But it is NOT the sound it plays, what does play is the sound I want for emails. In fact, all my notifications such as weather updates etc play the email sound. Something is wrong somewhere!
what happens if you change the overall notifiaction sound? In my Gmail app, the tone assigned is the one I want for emails. But it seems to have applied this is a default for all notifications, despite what the messages app says in settings
no idea, those are most likely on the system side of the os which is not accessible withoug gaining root. Before I do that, can you tell me which folder and where are the pre installed tones? If I could move the two files I downloaded to that folder...?
Based on the OP's comments:Or just install Zedge from the play store and download and assign sounds per app, no reset needed
