Assigning photos to Contacts

I have tried all ways to assign photos to contacts with no success. The step-by step instructions in the user manual simply do not work! Can anyone help please?

Hi

Open the contact. Do not press edit but long press the grey silhouette. Select image and choose one from the gallery. Then select gallery to crop it if you want to. Press done.

Hi

That's odd.

Just checked again on my wife's s3 mini and it works ( android 4.1.2) Assuming you are using stock android (not rooted or custom rom) I'm not sure what to suggest. I'll see if anyone else can help

Roger

I am on Kit Kat, stock android, so it is possible it is different on an S3 Mini, but I'll give it a shot. I go into the people app and click on a contact so I see the screen with all of their phone numbers (e.g. home, work, mobile, etc) and email addresses. I click on the menu button and choose edit. On that screen I see the contact name and to the right of that I see the grey silhouette. I can click on that and have the option of taking a photo or choosing one from the gallery.

Thank You to all who have answered my query. Unforgiven! you mention opening a contact and your phone shows land line, mobile, work numbers etc. that's summat else it won't do, I have to multiple entries for the same person. ****home, ****mob, ****work and am limited to 14 key strokes on any entry. The plot thickens!

I had that problem (multiple contacts) when I first started with Android. The easiest fix I found was to make sure my contacts were sync'd with Google. I was then able to log into Google on my computer and go to contacts. From there I as able to quickly merge multiple contacts and clean up the name variants (Mom Cell, Mom Home --> Mom) pretty quickly.
