ASUS Transformer Prime Delayed Until Next Year Over WiFi Issues? (No, but supply may be limited)

What!! Not buying this delay..this device has already been reviewed thoroughly by multiple tech sites..if there was a wifi issue they would have flushed it out ..

AnandTech - ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime & NVIDIA Tegra 3 Review

It was found and proven. Asus just brushed it under the carpet until it became far more widespread than they wanted. The problem with MOST reviewers is that they do not know how to actually test a device. They turn it on, scroll through a couple screens, and do some very basic user functions. That is all and report generic findings. None of them actually test the hardware.

I was just going to say that AnandTech reported this issue on their review, so it is possible this is a more generalized problem. I rather they delay the launch so I get a tablet that works properly instead of dealing with a problem that may or may get fixed with a software update.

I just cancelled my pre-order. No point in keeping it on pre-order if it won't be out until whenever next year.

With all the CF around anything Android, I am quickly becoming less enamored in it all together. I am so close to going to Apple.

Seems a bit extreme just because you can't get it now. It's better for it to be delayed until next year than to get it now and have problems.

same here just cancelled my pre-order. I am so sick of all these android devices promising the world, but they all get delayed. then next think you know there is something new that promises to be even better then that gets delayed. I am going to go buy a ipad at leat I know it does what it promises to do. PO Android !

Honestly go buy the closed system maxipad. More primes for the rest of us.

Does this mean it will launch with ice cream sandwich?

Who the hell knows at this point dude!? So many things have been said thus far, but pushed back, and pushed back, and pushed back again! I'm getting pretty sick of this! I had the money for a galaxy tab then saw this in early november and have been anxiously waiting. Asus is driving me crazy and making me sick w this thing. What a frickin let down!

Probably not. I don't think the delay will be severe. Probably just another 2 weeks pushing the release date to the end of this month early next month.

I cancelled because I don't want to forget that I pre-ordered a 500 dollar item and not have the money in the bank. heh

Really? Because Apple devices never have tech issues, right? Please.

Whatever happened to having some patience? What is it with this instant gratification and showing no understanding? Why is this Android's fault? Care to explain?

There has not been an official announcement form ASUS that they are delaying this tablet. If a delay happens, if made official, because they found a technical issue, I find that preferable to getting a defective product.

I will not be canceling my order. I saw this tablet at GameStop and it is awesome (guess what? it does what it promises to do!). Having to wait a while longer for it, should that turn out to be the case, will not cause me to lose a limb or drop dead.

Darn, darn, darn. I have to buy a new computer for work before 12/31 (they will pay for it). My husband already has an ipad and I don't like it (no usb port for pda net, closed format etc). What's a girl to do now?
Any stores have a longer return policy where I can buy the current transformer and return it when the new one comes out?

:)I just did some research and buy.com has a 45 day return policy, I guess I can order from them before the end of the year

Just received an email from BB informing me that the shipping date has changed to 12/19 (was 12/18). Wondering if they have either not been informed of the delay or would they continue to ship faulty hardware? I guess the tentative ship date could always change again.

Could this have been the problem with the delays already and the current batch coming out is fixed? That may have lead to the supply issues. I know that is extremely wishful thinking on my part. There really has only been an email from one supplier no official word from ASUS yet.

I haven't ordered one of these, yet, though I feel the same way a few of you do: If they are going to fix an issue before release then it is much better than either ignoring it or recalling later. I do wonder if they only need to fix a lot ( read that as a batch ) or two and this won't greatly impact the release.

As for this being the "worst launch of any product" let me remind you that ASUS only announced this tablet on November 9th, just one month ago. I can wait.

One thing I am going to do, though, is go look at one of these at a nearby gamestop.

i am in the same boat! I've got a pre-order from best buy and they have already taken the money, so technically I've bought it but just don't have it in hand.;)
I had no issues getting my reimbursement

All of this has been generated from one person's "email". Who knows if it was even true. That one email from NCIX caused all this stir.

Considering I'm not in Canada, I don't care about what NCIX says. It could be that their batch is delayed but the US release date is still scheduled for 12/19. We've already been delayed so sad delay could have been to fix that issue. Everyone loves to jump to conclusions and speculate.

This story is completely false, I assume engineered by an apple fanboy. I unlike most other posters here, simply picked up a phone and called asus. Asus had no clue what I was talking about, no delays, no wifi issues. When the costumer service rep looked it up on her pc, it said Q4 as the release date, as it always had.

Poor, poor reporting that starts a chain reaction of chaos. I'm sure the jelous apple fanboy is reveling in his mischief.

How you come up with delayed to 2012 is beyond me, as its not even in that fake email.

If there really is an issue, I wouldn't put too much faith in that phone call. CS reps are usually clueless and unaware of any issues until there is official/released word.
