Root [AT&T] After the root

O.K. So after i've rooted my phone, and before i flash a rom, if i just download all my back-ups(contacts, apps, etc.), my phone will still be on 4.1.1, which i had before the root. Is that about it? Then i can check around for the rom that works best for me. It's like jail breaking my old iPhone.

Is there someplace where i can get a list of the features of some of these roms? Thanks for any reply, as this is all new to me.

So that worked out for you, the windows on the mac?

Nope. Tried the GalaxyS3Root method with my Mac, but only works for ICS, not JB. I'll stay stock for now, as i refuse to pay $100.00, just to put Windows XP on my Mac. Next phone is a Google Nexus. They play nice with a Mac.

Why would you have to pay $100 to do so? I downloaded a windows 7 torrent, installed through boot camp and rooted no problem.

Never heard of that. If it will work for JB 4.1.1, please send me details. I would appreciate a step by step installation guide. Thank you.:)

Yup, works with jb 4.1.1, that's what I was on. So yeah find a windows 7 iso, download it, burn to DVD. You can't just right click it then burn, you have to do it through disk utility or it won't work properly.

Then start up boot camp and follow the steps, very easy.

O.K. Bootcamp won't let me partition my internal hard drive, but i can partition my external hard drive, using disk utility. I have a one terabyte hard drive that is almost empty, so i have plenty of space. I guess everything else stays the same.
1-Partition external hard drive
2-Download Windows7 iso
3-Burn to disk
4-Install Windows7 into partitioned hard drive
That last part sounds tricky. I guess that i open the partition, insert the Windows7 disk, and let it install. If anything doesn't seem right, please let me know. Thanks again, for your help.:)

What version boot camp and osx are you using?

O.K. So far, i have downloaded Windows7 Home Premium x64 bit, to my desktop. It's 3.22gbs. My OSX is 10.7.5. I only opened BootCamp one time, to check it out, and it said wrong version. So now, do i have to get a disk and burn my download to it? I'm taking this one step at a time. By the way, i would rather disconnect my external hard drive, and partition my internal hard drive. I watched a video about a three part partition. One for the Mac, one for Time Machine Back-ups, and one for Windows. Does that sound good to you? Thanks.:)

You could try. I didn't have that issue. Worth a shot I guess. Seems weird that it would say that. How big is the mac HD? I made a 80 gig partition for windows 7.

Yes use disk utility to burn the iso to DVD. It won't work any other way. But you need to figure out how to make a partition also.

I'm good to go. It was an old version of BootCamp, that i had to upgrade. Now i've got 400gbs for Mac, and 100gbs for Windows7Home. Once i get settled in with Firefox, i'll be ready to rock.:p

Right on! Let me know how it goes. I used to s3 toolkit to do mine and it was very simple.

Not getting an internet connection on the Windows side. Any ideas?

When you were setting up the partition, I think before that, did you notice if anything came up about drivers for windows? You might need to go back to boot camp on the Mac side and see if can download the drivers

I did that, and it said that the drivers were all good. On the Windows side, they said to plug in an ethernet cable from the wifi modem to the Mac. I'll try that next, but if it's a driver issue, i don't know whether or not that would work. Thanks for your help.:)

You have to make sure you choose the right model of phone and provider in the main screen.

Phone is toast. Stuck in Odin download mode, with no way out. No recovery mode, and Odin keeps failing when i try to get out.
