AT&T and POS Atrix

So I went in to the AT&T store because my Atrix is being a real POS lately...problems have been...

-Fingerprint scanner doesn't work at all anymore
-Resets on its own more than ever, also sometimes just turns off and won't turn back on unless I remove the battery and put it back in (which gets annoying with an otterbox).
-GPS takes about 10 minutes to "find satellites", even with my GPS on 24/7.

While none of these problems make the phone totally unusable, I think we're getting to a point where we need to stop putting up with all these minor problems and just demand a phone that lasts 2 years.

Anyway, I went into the AT&T store to try and get a replacement at the very least, but was told I was a week past my one year warranty. I then asked if I could just upgrade and they told me no I had to wait 6 months...then they tried to sell me an iphone for 200 plus another 200 for early upgrade. So basically my options are 1) put up with a crappy phone for 6 months or pay 200 for a new atrix, or 2) buy a 400 dollar iphone. Anyone else find this to be ridiculous?

Call AT&T on the phone and politely state your case. Be sure to throw around statements like "I might as well switch to Verizon, this would be a good time to do it." If they don't do anything or at least offer to give you a reconditioned Atrix, I would ask to speak to the "retention office". The retention office are the folks that you get transferred to when you call to cancel your account. They are willing to offer you a lot in order to keep you as a valued customer. They have more leeway than the average customer service rep to give you things or even early upgrades. Don't be bullied by threats of cancellation fees either.

This is how I got my Atrix when I was completely fed up with my POS Captivate.

Otherwise go back to the ATT corporate store and ask to speak to the manager. Talk to him about Verizon and Sprint and see what he/she can do for you.
