AT&T and the (true) cost of privacy

Crashdamage

Android Expert
AT&T is at it again. Trying to compete with Google Fiber by seeming to offer the same gigabit speed at the same price.

Except they really don't.

AT&T has put a price on your privacy. Pay the premium or they track everything you do and everywhere you go online. And will share the information. To make it even worse, they try to hide the true cost of the service they provide.

The article linked below gives a good explanation. And no, Google Fiber does *not* track everything like AT&T. They only track what you do with Google services.

Let's hear what you think...

ATT is also thinking about the same permacookie as Verizon on the phone.

I checked all services before even looking at a cell phone, and finally wound up with TMO. Better family prices. Especially if family doesn't use data.

To top all the fiber nonsense off now - Verizon can't fix old copper DSL lines. No parts.
We do have copper DSL. Was ATT, Qwest got it, now it's Centurylink.

Whole dial up service went down for the last half of December one year, and ATT lied about it. Got caught in the lie and admitted it. Have to really research before trusting ATT again.

What is ATT going to do with Direct TVs satellite internet service?

I'm sure AT&T just loves permacookies and just wishes they had thought of it first.

We've been with T-Mobile over 17 years. Very happy. Good coverage in our area, good prices and always have had good customer service.

Typical Verizon BS. You have my sympathies.

I would never trust AT&T. Ever.

I really don't know or care what AT&T does with DirecTV satellite.

We don't have Verizon DSL. It's Century link and was Qwest. Just went down this AM and they have it fixed.

The Verizon refusal to fix copper is hitting the Superstorm Sandy victims on the east coast yet.

even if it was only $29 per month savings... how could ads and selling of my data be worth $358 per year? every year?
millions of clients... each worth $358 per year..

something is missing... something is off.. something is being hidden.

No way my info is worth $358/yr. Clearly a ridiculously inflated figure. Obviously AT&T is hoping to skim millions for doing nothing. NOTHING! They want to turn customer's fear and paranoia into huge profits. It's sick. A scam. There should be a law...
