Root [AT&T] Any way to replace carrier stock software

Have the Note 2 from AT&T and want to replace the jelly bean on this with the factory one (without all the At&T software and bottlewear). Is there any way to do this (new to Android phones, 1s one)?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

When you say you want to replace JB with factory firmware without the bloat, you must realize that JB with all the AT&T applications preinstalled *is* the factory firmware for this device. I think what you are asking is how to install a generic pure version of Android.

I am moving this to the appropriate forum for you to get the proper answers.

Be advised that pure Android is pretty plain and you might not be completely happy with it without doing a lot of modifications. In any case, other folks who have already modified their devices will know better.

If I understand, you want something that is like what the Nexus has (pure AOSP or basic Android). The issue is you lose the s-pen apps and functions and a lot of other really cool things that make the Note different from other phones; but it is YOUR phone :D .

Plus you can uninstall, disable and hide all of the AT&T junk; then install Apex or Nova launcher and get almost a 99% setup that you get with an AOSP ROM without loosing any of the touchwiz or s-pen functions

But if you really want to go truly pure android, you will need to wait until a Dev over at XDA builds a AOSP type ROM or CM10 comes out. As of right now there are no ROMS for the AT&T Note 2 yet...

Here is a link to a great site it has a custom ROM for the Galaxy Note 2 It's called Saurom It's pretty much bloatware free and still keeps functionality of the S pen. It also allows you to get the ability to run 2 apps at the same time. It is awesome no issues yet.

Not a big phone geek but I know what you mean about bloatware. What I've done is disable most of the bloatwareand if that didn't work I selected to hide it. I'm too chicken to try rooting. I'd probably make a mess of it. After doing that I installed go launcher which keeps the best of android os and adds a lot of fun and the ability to customize more and it's pretty fast.
