Root [AT&T] automatically goes to boatloader

First of all I am completely new to unrooting/rooting.

So I bought an htc one for att off of ebay which came rooted in the google play edition. I didn't like it so I searched online on how to make it normal and unroot it. I changed the cid number to the original htc att. I then locked the bootloader. I then made s-on. Everything was going fine. Then I started the ruu file. Something went wrong, and I think it is because i used the incorrect file. Now when ever I turn my phone on it automatically goes to the bootloader menu. I can't get it to normal. However everything in the bootloader works like the fastboot, and I am pretty sure all I need to do is use the correct ruu file, and then my phone will be alright. Is this true? If so where can I find the correct file. I used an htc one att file, but it didn't work. I think the Md5 number may have been wrong. I don't know. Where can I find the Md5 number, and can someone give me the correct ruu file? I am really scared, as I just got the phone today and I don't want to ruin it. Please help!

Wherever you downloaded the file, there should be a file with the MD5 in it, iot the MD5 should be on the web page. You can get an MD5 file for whatever OS you're using (Windows or Mac) and have it calculate the MD5 of the file, then compare it with the number for the site.

As as side note, rooting doesn't do anything to a phone unless you run an app that asks for root. If you remove root, those apps won't run. No app that doesn't ask for root will behave any differently whether the phone is rooted or not. (IOW, there was no reason for you to unroot the phone.) To unroot, though, all you have to do is uninstall the superuser app (it might be called supersu).

So do i uninstall super user now or do i try to download a ruu file. What should i be doing?

you already screwed up by going s-on on a google play edition phone.

never lock the bootloader and go s-on on a phone unless you positive your on the same software it came with.

sorry but your phone may be stuck where it is now forever unless you manage to get s-off back

So I downloaded another htc AT&T rom and I called some command like fast boot boot.img, which fixed a lot of stuff but I am still having some problems. The phone works pretty well and I can use all the functions. However when I turn it off it just turns right back on. Also it lags a lot. When I tap 3 letters in a row the third letter takes a second or 2 to be recognized. Also when I download apps it just keeps saying downloading but never finishes. Is this because of the other files in the rom.zip file that I didn't put on the phone or whatever? Also it is still in google play edition instead of the normal version which I really want. Is it because I changed the CID number to normal from google play. Or does it have to do with boot loader dlocked or s on.

I have no idea what sort of state your phone is in,currently. You're sure it was originally an att phone?

Go to fastboot and enter:

fastboot getvar all

Paste the results here, minus your esn and imie

If the phone is working and booting I'd strongly recomend to get s off again. You'll need it to fix the phone 100% correctly. Turning s on was really bad idea.
