Root [AT&T] Best "Windows" for root

I have to buy Windows, when i partition my MacBook. Which is the better choice, XP or 7? Also, i don't think i need the extra cost of the upgrades, do i? Never used a PC, so this is all new to me. Thanks for any feedback.:)

P.S. The best price that i could find is around $100.00.
 
Based on what I have read I would say XP would be more compatible. I use Windows 7 and 8 and have to work and tweak both to get it to connect to my phone.

Where is the best place to buy Windows XP? I'd real like to get my phone rooted. Thanks for your help.:)

Thanks. I did some more reading, and what i would need with Windows XP is the basic installation disk + service pack 2. I'm not sure, but i think that the cost for that would be more than the cost of the phone itself. Well, i have to start looking around for a post on "how to root with a mac". I'm not sure that i want to spend that money for something that i'm not going to use very much. Thanks again for your time.:)
 
No all the service packs are free from Windows Update. Go all out to Service pack 3. At this point and time the Service packs should already be incorporated with the XP install.

O.K., I'll rethink this. How much of a partition would i need on my Mac? 60/40, 75/25, or what? I have the 500gb version, and there's plenty left.:)

I'm also in the same boat as you. Let me know how it goes on mac with windows, I'd really like to do mine also.
