Root [AT&T] Google Apps 4.2

Is there a clean way of doing this new install? I was thinking at first to install on top of my current GAPPs but I'm afraid of getting duplicate gmail, calendar, gallery, etc.

Or... will it just overwrite the old Google apps? I tried to search if there was a way to uninstall the old Google Apps before installing the new 4.2 that was recently released.

Just do it. It will overwrite existing apps.

I did this running AOCP's latest release after installing their recommended GAPPS package.

Just make sure that after flashing the 4.2 GAPPS package in recovery you wipe cache and dalvik.
