Root [AT&T] How do I rename a backup properly?

I ask because I've renamed before and it got all messes up. Whenever I tried to restore the backup, says something about the md5 sum. Any help is appreciated.

I assume you're talking about nandroids?

You just rename the folder containing that specific backup. Don't include crazy characters or spaces to start.

You can optionally turn off the md5 check

Yeah sorry nandroid. How do I turn off the md5 check?

Havent used CWM in awhile but TWRP lets you name the back up whatever you want and there is an option right there to turn off MD5 check

get rom manager from the market. It lets you manage your CWM backups. you can name the backup, and then it boots into CWM backup so none of that cryptic 1970 dates get put in the backup folder.
