Root [AT&T] I restored back to factory w/root.

Not sure if any of you have experienced this, but I have an ATT S3 that has ICS on it. I rooted the day I got the phone but just recently tried a few JB roms. Every single rom thread was "my battery life sucks" "What kernel for better batt life". I found myself asking the same things. I had NO issues on ICS with my phone. Batt life was great.
I saw no wow features on JB. I had it set up the exact same way, icons and widgets as I did ICS, so all I had was the latest OS with worse batt life. I had Android system eating over 50% of my battery. There's no real reason or fix for this. On ICS, I never even see Android system in my list. I restored my nandroid and living happy.
This was just my thoughts on roms. Thanks

You gotta do what you're happy with :) I haven't messed with any ROM's yet either because I've felt no need for it. That being said, I am going to attempt to update to the AT&T release of JB tonight when I get home :)

Since when did ATT start releasing JB? I have not gotten that update notice.

I updated today though Kies. A lot of people are having issues using Kies but mine worked the first time. Just make sure Kies is updated itself. I was rooted with Clockwork recovery, no custom ROM. I will most likely root it again today.

So, I assume that when you upgrade to JB it will unroot your phone again, and put it back to stock, right?

Kies is not allowing me to update. Tells me Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. I was on stock rom that was rooted. I dont get it. I just pulled down the 738mb file from the site. I guess I can use Odin to install it, but I am not aware if this process will wipe my phone.

Unroot it... I think you can use supe ruser to temporarily unroot. It wont be rooted once the install takes place though.

I just downloaded the ROM from Samsung and flashed it in Odin via download mode. This was a success and did not wipe any data.

updating to Jellybean now via Odin.. Still trying to attempt to update my wife's S3 via Kies.. I'd do hers via ODIN but she's scared to root her phone..

The update to JB was sucessful, and I also downloaded ROM manager, installed CWM TOUCH recovery (yes, I paid for it...), and goofed around a bit. So far I'm happy.. Trying to figure out what differences there are.. So far, they seem to be slight differences.
