AT&T Kit Kat Update just arrived

53 minutes to download (home wifi gets 25MB) so pretty slow from AT&T. Another 15 to install\update. Now for the fun part.

So how did it go? Everything go smoothly? Any issues? :O Inquiring minds want to know!

Perfectly smooth so far. I'm sure that I will discover things as I go along but so far no negatives and really not many positives either. Can't say as I notice much difference whatsoever.

Cloud Print is certainly more integrated in native email app so that's nice. Could never really get it to work well before.

Was hoping to be able to add widgets to lock screen like the kit kat update advertises but cannot figure out how to do so. Maybe Samsung stripped that one away.

No issues, but I hate the new "Location" toggle instead of being able to control GPS separately!

Was looking at the change log - doesn't seem too special. I suppose I'll get a notice sometime soon to do the update, but it doesn't look like it'll do much.

If you find different, let us know.

...Downloading 358.16 MB as we speak

Downloading now, didn't realize they had an update, usually get an at&t message stating it's available. Hoping it cures whatever is up with s-voice since the last update. It worked fine bone-stock, last update it was a pain.

Like the upgrade so far, unlike the last update that wiped contacts & calendar, this one worked and my s-voice now works like it did brand new.

I got impatient and didn't wait. i found the config file and sideloaded it via ADB. they did a great job on this update!

Liking the little changes I'm noticing here and there, nothing too dramatic.

Hey does anyone know what they changed regarding brightness on the web? I keep my settings on manual MAX brightness by choice, also checked web-settings brightness was on manual, but the webs dim & if I change pages (bookmark, etc) it gets bright for one second, then dims again. Figured they added some feature somewhere I'm overlooking that wasn't there before.

Totally - what a stupid change. Now you have to go into a menu and choose "accurate" or whatever. I guess they assume that most sheeple will just leave it on Accurate all the time as they are used to doing on iPhones.

I was also looking at the same thing (widgets on lock screen) and cannot find it anywhere.

I also was unable to get Android Device Manager to actually be able to track my phone from the website on my PC. Nor would it ring the phone when I pressed that button. I just disabled it again as I'm not sure I even want them to have the ability to wipe out my phone

Menu > Settings > My Device > Lock Screen > Multiple Widgets.

Then go to your lock screen, swipe down on the clock so you see the edit icon, swipe left/right and click the plus button.

"Multiple Widgets" is not an option on my menu under Lock Screen.

Screen Lock
Lock Screen Widgets
Make Pattern Visible
Secured Lock Time

Those are the only things shown. This is on AT&T

Hogan, are you sure you're on 4.4? I'm on the i747 as well, and it shows for me as...well I'll just show a screencap.

Yep I took the AT&T update the other night. Ver 4.4.2 Baseband I747UCUFNE4
Kernel 3.4.0-1514807

Is that what you have?

I have all the other KitKat stuff such as white icons at top, etc

Android version: 4.4.2

Baseband:

I747UCUFNE4

Kernel:

3.4.0-1514807

Granted I'm rooted, but its still stock...I just removed the AT&T stuff since you know. I'm on Tmobile and all.

I dunno - maybe something went wrong in the install, although everything else works fine and I saw someone else also post that they don't have the lockscreen widgets so I'm thinking it is something to do with the AT&T update. Did your update come thru T-Mobile?

No, it's the official AT&T one. I just sideloaded it via ADB rather than waiting for it.

I'm not really sure why you don't have those options though....That's a bit weird

I dont have the multiple widgets option either...must be something to do woth T mobile vs AT&T.

This was fixed in 4.3 I believe. It used to bug the crap out of me.
