AT&T has joined forces with Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner and other businesses that provide internet services to begin blocking users/customers from certain sites if a customer's account has been flagged for downloading unauthorized material.
AT&T plans to send a customer five email alerts that the account has been detected for downloading material from a site without permission. According to this article, internet sites for example, motion pictures, music imdustry, etc. will capture the I.P. address of a "violator" and contact the services used to surf the net. Eventually these companies can sue AT&T to release a consumers records.
Downloading copywrited material without purchasing or permission is wrong, but has "Big Brother" now monitoring our browsing and download habits?
