Can an .ogg file be downloaded into a rooted AT&T SGSIII? Want to add a sound to the phone. Thanks for any help.

Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
Yes it can
Just download it to your sd card, then move it to either notifications or ringtones with Root Explorer or ES File Explorer. Make sure you mount the system as r/w, set permissions, and reboot!
Let me post a pic, then I can explain easier

See at the top it says, "mounted as r/o"? That means I cannot move files around in /system until I click on the box that says, "Mount R/W". Then I can write, (or move files to) /system.
For example, if I download an .ogg file to my sd card.
If I copy that file and navigate to /system/media/audio/notifications, and try to paste it there without mounting as r/w, the paste will fail.
I need to mount as r/w in order for the file to paste.
As far as permissions, see how next to each .ogg file it says "rwxrwxr-x"?
Set your new .ogg file with the same permissions by long pressing on the file, then changing permissions. I don't know how to better explain permissions, but I can post another pic of a screen where permissions are changed at.
What app are you using to send a text or email?
The reason I ask is, with the stock messaging app, at least on mine (Verizon w/cleanrom) there is no option to make a sound with a message sent. On GoSmS, there is.
And on email, I use gmail, there is no option to make a sound when email is sent.
You may want to try GoSMS if you want a sound-on-sent text.
Or another email app that will handle gmail etc...like AquaMail. <---not sure if that allows sound-on-sent email tho![]()
No problem....sorry if I had misunderstood your question![]()

You use ES File Explorer? I do too, but I am just more used to Root Explorer to do some things like change permissions that's all.
ES File Explorer will do the same thing. I use both
But I don't think that will help with the app sounds you want to happen ya know?
