Hello! I just got my sony xperia ion for AT&T. I paid over $250 for this phone and i am going on my sisters bill with verizon. I really don't want to spend another $200 for a new phone so can I get it unlocked? If so, how?
Hello and welcome to the forums atomicstone - thanks for joining!!
I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say you are going on to your sister's bill
You should be able to obtain the unlock code from your carrier (or a phone unlocking service). Your carrier will give you the code for free, as long as your account meets certain criteria. Unlocking services usually charge a fee, and require the phone's IMEI number.
Unfortunately, the Xperia Ion will not work on Verizon's network, as the phone is GSM, but Verizon's network is CDMA. Also Verizon certifies all phones on its network, and won't allow non-certified phones to use it. If you are switching to Verizon, you will have to get a Verizon phone unfortunately... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
