Root [AT&T] Unbricking my phone

thaKing

Android Enthusiast
Was going to update my ROM and I had wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format /system and my toddler hit the Reboot Phone option. Now phone only goes to Samsung splash screen and shuts back off.

Looking at this vid: How to Unroot &/or Unbrick Samsung Galaxy S3 (All Versions) - YouTube

I am downloading the ATT image (Firmware archive | Samsung Updates). Then flash in odin using this for PDA. I saw a similar thread here, but no results posted (http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/779904-bricked-samsung-galaxy-s3.html).

If I do this, I'm guessing I'm unrooted again and need to root my phone.

I have a nandroid backup. I made a Titanium Backup. I have the new ROM and gapps.

Is this the best route to go to get my S3 back up and running????

Moved ya to the ATT root forum:)
Can you boot back into recovery and restore your nandroid?
Nope, it flashes Samsung and shuts back off. Or at least I think that's what it is doing. I hold the home + vol up + power and it flashes Samsung (and little blue writing across the top) and that's it.

When you do the 3 button combo, and then you see the little blue lettering, let go of the power button only but continue to hold the home+volume up buttons until you see your recovery screen......then let go of the home+volume up. That might work. Sometimes booting into recovery can be tricky :)

OMG!!!! I'm into recovery!!!! I'm guessing I can just move forward with flashing my ROM as intended?

Many, MANY thanks!! I owe you a beer...or a few bucks. Seriously, I will donate money to you (or a cause of your liking). You've saved me so much heartache.....whew!

The feeling of helping someone such as yourself is reward enough for me :)

See ya 'round!!

Well, not so fast. When I try to flash the ROM I get errors:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I747UCDLK3" || getprop("ro.bootloader") == .....

and it lists several bootloaders it failed on....eek!

Try a fresh download of the rom...
I've not seen that error before :hmmmm:

Or try to restore your nandroid.

Edit: just to be sure, the rom you are trying to flash---is it for your carrier and device?

I'm restoring my nandroid now...and yep, the rom is for att. It's weird. The new version of the rom is v2.10. My nandroid was of v2.9. I tried flashing both roms and got the error. But, it's letting me restore my nandroid. We'll see how this goes. If I can get my nandroid up and running, then I can move forward with trying to flash the new rom.

Fingers crossed.

Nandroid worked....I believe the issue I saw when trying to flash the newer ROM is because I need to update my bootloader to work with my the rom....at least that's what I've gathered from quick searching.

Thanks again for the help.
