Root [AT&T] want to root ONE X ?

Newbie
I want to Root my ONE X. But I don't know where to start, I have read the forums and clicked the links but I'm still confused!! I have never messed with a phones settings before, This is my first Android phone and I've had it for a year.

could some one give me a clue as to where I should start and take all the technical talk out of it.

I was a rooting noob myself. I was able to root my at&t one x no problem. I was on the 2.20 software as well. I am currently running cleanrom 5 and I really like it. It is very smooth and stable. I am going to wait until the cleanrom jelly bean rom is out of beta which should be pretty soon. I think i read on xda somewhere that once you flash certain jelly bean roms you can't go back to icecream sandwich roms. That is why I am waiting for the cleanrom jelly bean rom to work out the bugs even though there haven't been many reported at all.
 
How do i root a HTC one x. It runs ice cream sandwich ,its completely stock

the question above is the most important,as the s4 and tegra 3 roms and images are not compatible. using the wrong thing can and will brick your phone.

may want to read the beginnings before just jumping to the end to ask a general question. there is alot of good info on these forums,and youll find most of the info you need without having to wait for an answer.

a very general answer,is this:
-if you have a tegra 3 one x,or an international s4 one x,you can unlock via htcdev.com and install an appropriate recovery
-if you have an att s4 one x on ICS,youre SOL for now. att doesnt allow the unlocking of bootloaders(at least the one x) and ICS has blocked the exploit that allowed temp root and superCID(wich allowed the bootloader to be unlocked)

Don't you mean jb? I rooted and unlocked mine back when it was on ICS

Its My buddys phone so idoubt we will root it:p. And if we would id give you all the info thanx
