Root [AT&T] Wont turn on but computer recognizes when plugged in

I was going to flash Cyanogen 10.1 nightly, I have installed Cyanogen10 before but phone was currently running stock jelly bean. The flash failed (error status 7) so I went to just reboot. Screen went black and stayed black. I pulled the battery after a little wait and tried turning on, nothing. When I plug into my computer it makes the connect/disconnect chime but nothing else.

Am I hard bricked??:confused:
 
Screen is just blank.
If I have the phone plugged into my laptop and hold down the power button, my laptop will make the disconnect chime and when I release the power button it reconnects with my laptop, but there is nothing on the screen, the phone doesnt vibrate and no led notification
 
When the phone is off, if you boot up by holding in Power, Home, Volume Up, does it take you to Clockwork or whatever recovery you flashed?

P.s. did you make a Nandroid backup before flashing the nightly or have you ever made a nandroid?
 
You didn't have USB debugging enabled by chance did you?

What cyanogen did you try to flash? Can you post the full name of the zip?

Also, can you clarify whether this is the ATT or international version?
 
I'm fairly new to samsung, but Odin may require download mode.

If the phone is recognized by fast boot by your computer, there may be a chance. Have you ever used or flashed anything via fastboot?
 
I 'think' its download mode (Power, Home and Volume DOWN). thats what odin works with :thumbup:
I dont have same model as you but wanted to see a happy ending to this story :)
 
Like I said, I'm really an HTC guy, but ADB & fastboot shouldnt require any carrier related software. You plug your phone into the computer and issue commands from your terminal. You can flash ROMs, kernels, recoveries, radios ect from it.

You can pretty much rebuild the device with it bit by bit.

Samsungs are a little strange because they don't give you direct access to a bootloader though, so maybe someone else can chime in. I'm hoping since your computer recognises it, it can be saved with those tools

Give me a few minutes, I'll borrow steps from previous tutorials I've put together and see if I cant walk you through seeing if its detected by fastboot.



Edit: Here we go... :thumbup:

If you aren't familiar with doing things from fastboot, chances are the first thing you are going to need to do is properly setup the folders to carry out the adb or fastboot commands. The setup takes the most time and after you have it all set up commands are quick after that

Setting up ADB:
1) Download the mini-SDK here and move it to something like C:Androidplatform-tools
our forums' mini-sdk

It contains:
adb.exe - Windows adb utility
fastboot.exe - Windows fastboot utility
fastboot-windows.exe - Windows fastboot utility
AdbWinApi.dll - adb link library for Windows
AdbWinUsbApi.dll - adb link library for Windows

Plug your phone into the computer via USB

Once there, we need to open up a command prompt in the location where your sdk-tools are. If you are in windows 7 you can just shift+right click to select "open command prompt from here"

If you don't have win 7 you can manually move to the file location with the command cd to change directory.

Once you are in the correct directory you just type in
Code: 
adb devices
and hit enter. If your device is recognized it will show up
