Atrix 2 ICS Update

So this afternoon I started the update and it was all going well, until it reach the Updating Media Database. Its been stuck there for around 5 hours. Im getting worried and I chatted with customer support and they said to call, but their services were closed. Should I take out my battery? Anybody know what to do?

A factory reset erases everything on the phone and makes it basically like it was right out of the box before you ever did anything to it. This all gets erased except for content on the SD card.

Clearing the devices cache is easier and you don't have to set up everything again, but if clearing the cache doesn't solve it than a factory reset most likely will.

I believe you can backup your contacts to the SD card or with Gmail, but I'm not sure I recall how to go by this I'm afraid.

EDIT: You could backp your contacts with your Google Account by going to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Your email and check sync contacts. And then after that you do the same thing and you should get your contacts back.

So I reset the cache, and it seems to work, but should i wait a little to see the battery drainage, or should i see it right away. Sorry for so many questions.

it's no problem at all ask as many as you want. :)
I guess you could see if the battery drainage starts and if so try clearing the cache.

Ya its dropped 4 percent in 5 minutes, guess im gonna try factory reset, I have so many useless things i dont need, do you have any tips?

Make sure to backup things you want to keep before doing it or you'll have to add your contacts all over again. EDIT: For backing up contacts try going to contacts > hit menu > move contacts to your gmail. Your contacts should be stored on your gmail account and syncing with it should restore your contacts.

I upgraded to ICS last night and my phone has had nothing but problems since. Constantly resets/restarts itself, apps force close or won't open at all. I have no music or movies on my phone but do have photos - some saved to SD card, some saved to phone. My Gallery has yet to display my photos since the upgrade and constantly force closes.

I read your post here that clearing the cache has helped, but I don't know how to do that. I have cleared the cache for my browser, is that what you mean? If there is a phone cache, can you please explain how to clear it?

Thanks for any help, extremely frustrated and sorry I upgraded at this point.

It's ok I found it myself

1) turn the phone off
2) push and hold in order vol up and down and power bottom simultaneously while powering up the unit Screen will show up as Boot Mode Selection Menu.
3) press Volume down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery"
4) then press Volume up key to boot in this mode "recovery mode"
5) you'll a pic of the "triangle with an exclamation mark (!) / Android" lay back , Make sure you push on the vol up and down again together, and A Recovery Menu will come up
6) you use the vol down to scroll highlighting wipe data factory reset or wipe cache partition, based on your option then you tap on the power key to select.

"Warring in case you're going to select wipe data factory reset, make sure you backup your phone first using gmail or SD card, there'll be no way possible for you to get those datas back, if they were not saved somewhere before the action was taken".

7) you'll get the yes or no confirmation, you select "yes" to do it or you hit "no" in case you changed your mind.

8) after wards It will take you back to the same recovery mode menu, then you hit the first option which is "Reboot System now" tapping on the power key. and your phone will come on it may take you up to 3,4 or 5 minutes to boot up.
