Help Atrix MMS Settings not user adjustable??

So I have only received a few mms message since I received my atrix, but both have been super small at least in comparison to what I am used to receiving on the iphone. So I did a search and it appears this is an Android issue for a lot of phones?? During my searches I noticed that comments were made about "adjust your MMS settings" so I search "Atrix MMS Settings" and came across an AT&T webiste and below is what it said:

Instructions:
The picture messaging settings are pre-configured for this device; the settings cannot be viewed or edited.

So am I to understand that I am stuck viewing small crappy pics when someone mms' me? Are they resizing pics on purpose to try and manage bandwidth and if so, why did the iphone pics come across just fine?​

Is there an app or something (other than rooting) that will provide me with some pics that I can actually see? Thanks for the help.​
 
Its worse for video mms, atleast from iphones.. It'll play the audio but the video portion will be a still picture. Really annoying.
 
I just downloaded hanscent and yes the pictures come out as they should but the videos still have the same problem.. what's the deal with the videos?
 
Best I can tell, there is no way to save the attachment (which is just as bad), least not that I have found, but I'm new to android so I may just be dumb and missing something.
 
You can try Save MMS app. It allows you to save the pic and then you can see it in a more reasonable size. It seems like alot of extra steps, but at least you can save and view the pic in a larger format. Hope this helps.
 
My mms pictures come in fine, and I can save them...both on handcent and the stock text messaging app.

press and hold on the picture and it brings up options. On handcent, it shows "save to sd card"...I don't have one installed, but choosing this option save's it to the "gallery".

Press and hold or "long press", whatever you wanna call it...must be done while viewing the conversation, pressing and holding after you click to view the picture doesn't work.
 
Thanks for the tips, when I save them they look much better. Would prefer to be able to just open them and look at them, but its not that big o deal to save them first.

You shouldn't have to save the pic first to view it. If you just touch the pic, you can view it full size. The first time you do so, it should ask you to choose which app to use. Just pick gallery.

I'm using Handcent but the stock app works the same I believe.
 
Yeah you should not have to save them to view full size. Tap to view while in the conversation looks fine with mine. There have been some that are smaller size, but that's because they were small resolution pictures.
