Help Atrix Questions

I just got an Atrix and have a few questions:

Is there an easier way or faster way to view the percentage of battery I have left than going to Settings, Battery Management?

Does nightime mode turn off all synching included SMS\MMS and email?

I have Hotmail. I had to set this up under Email, Motoblur accounts. Now is all my Hotmail going through Motoblur's website? How is it actually working?

Should I use the Task Manager to close programs after I finish using them?

If I have WIFI turned on and entered my network password will the phone automatically dtect and use my router from that point on or is it manual connection? What is actually sent over the WIFI? How do I know what is being sent over the WIFI and when?

Thanks

I don't have an Atrix but I can answer a few questions.

On my Droid X, when it is charging it shows the battery percentage on the unlock screen. When it isn't charging I believe going into settings is the only way to get a percentage reading. There are apps in the market that can make that percentage number more accessible in various ways however. I don't use any so I don't know any off hand to recommend. The battery visual indicator has been good enough for me.

You shouldn't need to use a task manager to shut programs down normally. A task manager is only needed to shut down poorly coded apps that suck up battery when they should be sleeping. A properly sleeping app should not impact battery life. However, because there is no minimum quality bar in the Android Market, you will have to figure out on an individual basis which apps are working properly and not since plenty of developers don't care or don't know how.

Note that there is a difference between exiting an app using the back button and the home button. Using the back button(or an app's built in exit function if one exists(this is the best way to close an app)) puts the app into a sleep mode where it still rests in memory but should not consume battery. If an app consumes battery while in this state, consider getting rid of the app and finding an alternative. Using the home button to exit an app is equivalent to hitting the minimize button in Windows. The application is more or less running full on, is ready to be resumed immediately, and may be consuming battery.

When you have Wifi properly configured and enabled, your phone will switch from AT&T's data network to your Wifi network whenever it is in range. Mostly everything involving data is sent over Wifi instead of 3G/4G if a Wifi connection is present(Web browsing, email, apps with internet connectivity). Phone calls, text messages(SMS), and multimedia messages(MMS) will use AT&T's network whether you are on wifi or not however(It will connect to AT&T's data network even if you are on Wifi to send a picture text message for example).

download a battery widget from the market, then you can have the battery percentage on any homescreen (I use BattStat).

Don't know what 'nightmode' your referring to, but there are plenty of apps you can download to manage such things. TASKER being the main one I'm thinking of.

As dguy said, just use the back key to your homescreen, for the most part. If there's a 'close' or 'quit' option', use the menu key when on the apps main screen. It should be there if there is one.

After you configure the wifi setup for your home, it will use that exclusively WHEN WIFI IS TURNED ON (not just in range as dguy stated)

Then why is Task Manager included as part of the OS? I odn't really understand that and have yet to see a program with an exit button. Nightime Mode is listed in battery manager on the Atrix. I needed to know what exactly that mode stops synching for.

A couple of apps I'd recommend for seeing battery status are vizBattery Widget and Battery Status. The first is a widget you can place on your home screen. The second lives up in the status bar and has a notification which can be turned on/off, but the app will still show battery status when you pull down the notification bar whether or not you have the notification turned on.

Side note: The Atrix only reports battery status in increments of 10, which is a hardware limitation. Kind of stinks, but oh well.

By night mode I mean: Settings, Battery Manager, Battery Mode: Nighttime saver.... Is that what you are using, if not have you? Also, my when I delete Hotmail on my PC it does not seem to sync with the phone.
