Help ATT Galaxy S2 NFC capability: not working

Hi all, I just purchased the US ATT Samsung Galaxy S2. It has the NFC battery/antenna and the NFC service application dormant, but it does not support NFC applications. Runs 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS. Has anyone been able to get the NFC capability working?

The Nexus S has a native Tags app that runs NFC capability, uses 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

It's not activated by AT&T at the moment.

There's no real application of NFC yet. It's mostly built into phones so they can get the NFC systems running once everything is set in place. I think they still have to get banks on board to make mobile tap-and-go payments a reality.
