Attaching Dropbox files to e-mails on my Android tablet

When I send an e-mail to someone from my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) and click on the paperclip icon to attach a file, Dropbox is not an option.

I know that if I open up Dropbox, find the file that I want to e-mail I can "share" it via email, but the document is not an attachment but is a link embedded in the text of the email which will allow the recipient to download the file. My problem is that this is confusing to many of the folks I send attachments to in this fashion. So that I don't have confused email recipients I'd like to just send the file from Dropbox rather than a link to it.

Can anybody help me?

Works for me on both a Nexus 4 with the stock email app and a HTC Amaze with Enhanced Email. Not sure why Dropbox doesn't come up as an option for you. Check your settings is all I can offer.

Of course you realize that once the file is selected for attachment it must download from Dropbox. Directly attaching a file via email that is stored remotely is not possible with any any cloud storage, hence the share a link function to avoid downloading.
