Attempt to fix slick sides of Commuter case

I am happy with the protection the Otterbox Commuter has for my Razr Maxx. However, I am a little concerned about it slipping out of my hand due to the slick sides. A fellow razr maxx owner suggested I try Plasti Dip (a spray mist that puts a light layer of rubber on the object) for this case. I am not very handy and tend to mess things up. But I gave this a try tonight. I put on two coats and have to wait 4 hours for it to dry.

Tomorrow, I will let all of you know how it turned out.

It worked. The sides and back of the case are more rubbery. It does make it a little more difficult to get out of your pocket. However, I feel better about it not slipping out of my hand. Overall, I like it. Now, the question is, how long will it stay on the phone.

I just tried a couple of pieces of electrical tape. Seems to be working. A little bit grippier with little to no extra added to the case and real easy to replace if needed.

Applied the plasti dip. Put on two coats. Made the phone much grippier. However, it makes it difficult to get in and out of the pocket. Now after six days the plasti dip is peeling off. Now I am not very handy and maybe I did not put it on correctly. I plan to try it again. Maybe I did not put it on thick enough like directions said needed to be done.

I think I will try the electrical tape suggested by KiltedMP.

Some electrical tape glue tends to become gooey when it gets hot. Make sure to purchase a name brand like 3M or similar and not the Dollar Store variety. Also electrical tape is really designed to stick to itself and not necessarily to other surfaces. Like wrapping wire connections for example.

Worth a try though.

If it becomes sticky, some careful application of Goo Gone or similar will clean it up.
