ATTENTION: UK PAYG customers

Guys as you can see a couple of forum staff have posted in this thread and if it had been deemed spam it would have been removed very swiftly. So let's drop it now and continue with the GiffGaff discussion...

Cheers mate.

Getting more cheap data to more smartphone users is what I want. Only that way will the apps mature, the OS develop, and the services grow.

i just started useing giffgaff, lasted 10 mins and back to 3. o2 are the worst possible network they could of chosen. edge+nexus one= rubbish.

Well, all feedback is appreciated. Thanks for giving it a try at least.

Worth checking coverage map on o2 website first.

ive poped it back in and forced 3g and it stays on albeit with one bar. i really wanna stay on this sim as it seems very good value. ill see how it goes.

I think it's really about making sure you get the service you want at the areas you spend most of you time.
If the O2 network ain't giving you that, then it's no good for you.

;)

Well got my SIM, and trying to activate; only problem is the Giff Gaff site doesn't like my Debit Card, so looks like I'll be having to stick with Vodafone for at least another month. Shame, was set to save at least

They have just introduced top-up voucher support.

Very rare to hear of Debit card issues. Is it a UK based card?

EDIT: Just spotted your forum post on giffgaff. I'll escalate this for you - hang in there.

Did you get sorted mate?
Yeah. Had a PM from Cust.Serv. they said they'd try and sort it their end; sounded like a problem they were aware of, and asked for a screen shot of the error message. So I went back to grab a screen shot, and it worked :)

I suspect it's got something to do with my bank swapping out old Meastro Debit cards (with issue nos.) and re-issuing VISA Debit cards with date ranges; I've had a similar problem with flybe.com, but they just say keep trying evetually it'll work

Yes and no.
Are you telling me you have no fup on data or texts? Are on net calls and texts free? How much are 0800 numbers? How much are calls outside the allowance? 25p - now, THAT'S expensive!

Sounds like you have a good setup for you, but it's horses for courses. I don't know of another network with truly ul data and texts, and so giffgaff is great for very high data users.
It's not very realistic to call them expensive though.

http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/simplicity/1_month I can't find any mention of data here either. The bolt-ons are all call related. With giffgaff, all on-net calls and texts are free in any case.

No, they are a PAYG network.

For many people, sticking with the phone you have, buying a good 2nd hand device, or just getting a new phone is cheaper in the long run.
Of course, it's not for everyone, and doesn't offer the same convenience of being able to walk into a phone shop, sign a contract and leave with a phone. It does offer much better value for money though - as many disgruntled Vodafone users may tell you!

There's many great options on the market, and giffgaff may not suit some people, but that's the beauty of choice! ;)

Ah, I see it now. You're on this plan: Tariffs <table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td align="center"> <table border="0" cellpadding="8" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td> <font class="gamma" size="2"><span class="gamma-neg-alert"> Your browser does not support th at

I was comparing like for like, in terms of everything, minutes texts and calls. I may have been looking at this as why should I join as opposed to why should I stay.

The only real hurdle then I guess is number portability?

Yeah, you can port your number.

I'm glad to see you've also posted on the giffgaff forum - which I really appreciate. I'm sure you'll find it a good service, and it'll allow you to use that Nexus the way Google intended!

Thanks for posting ;)
