Ya it's not a big update, I didn't even have to go thru SEUS, PC Companion said new software was avail when I connected my phone and it updated right away.

I just rooted today as well.
I used the SuperOneClick program, installed busybox from market and it was good to go.

well that 8.64 file apparently downloaded.. when I first restarted phone after the download it said something like download could not be completed yet its gone from the notification bar and its been in that bar for over a month now. I dont have multi touch yet I tried..?

you didn't update. The file SEUS as downloaded for me was around 163mb because it has new apps bundled with it. Unroot and you might find it

2.1 rooted zdz?????

My phone is rooted and mine reads 2.1 - update1
even when I used z4root or superoneclick, that stayed the same.

have you been using the official Rogers 2.1 Rom the whole time?

yes. stock rom. I tried another one but I couldnt figure out how to do it. I cant believe I got a the root to work lol,. im terrible when it comes to stuff like this but im a fast leaner in everything else. Its weird. ... college diploma and everything but a cell phone makes me want to lose my mind with all the terms and such - roms, xda, roots, kernels etc.

hair IS falling out lol

I just want to know if this new update is really that good. my phone is good right now but how much better could it be with this?

I've already made use of multitouch, especially during web browsing. no more stupid +/- zoom in/out buttons to press.

You can always do a full repair, connect via SEUS and choose the repair option to wipe everything clean. Not to sure what else I can suggest.

Well, based on this, I would surmise that you are using a custom ROM (presumably the one by zdzihu), this would be why you keep getting the up-to-date reports from SEUS or PC Companion since you're not actually using an official SE ROM.

It should read 2.1-update1 if you were running the official SE ROM. So use SEUS or PC Companion to re-flash to an official ROM and then you should be able to update to the 2.1.1.A.0.6 (latest) update.

There are other ways to get multi-touch on your phone without having to set up your phone from scratch again......

Dualtouch for all ROMS [GUIDE] - xda-developers

[MOD]Dual Touch FOR EVERY app - xda-developers

Personally, I would get the new ROM as it offers more than just multi-touch but it's up to you.

If you decide you want the ROM just use FlashTool and the ROM included here:

X10i 2.1.A.0.435 & 2.1.1.A.0.6 for FlashTool - xda-developers

I believe he meant that he was looking for a method to root that could done without having to use a computer. Just like how Z4Root was an app for your phone that after one click you could root your phone.

why what will that do?

Z4Root was an app you could download from the Market that would root your phone without having to use a computer. However, the last 3 or so firmware updates from SE have patched whatever exploit Z4Root used and now it can't be used to root your X10 anymore, which is why you have to use something like FlashTools or SuperOneClick (both of which require a computer) to root your phone now on the latest firmware.

Well the flashtool requires a computer but it makes it almost as easy as z4. SuperOneclic seemed too complicated for nothing . You plug you root and it's done

i do have Z4root. but you said wait till the new one comes out.. why does that have MT in it or something?

I dont care much if i have it or not.. i dont mind double tapping screen to zoom in on google maps and browser. I think I would only care to have pinch zoom is to know I have it and my phone isnt well behind other phones. its more about bragging rights then usefulness. lol
