Help Audio Jack Not Working S6 edge

K Hussain

Lurker
Hey there,

So I recently got my screen and LCD replaced as it was cracked, and I noticed the next day that the audio jack was completely not working. When I insert headphones (and yes, they are put in fully), audio still comes through the speakers and the only sounds coming through the headphones are very fuzzy static sounds. Now I have tried this with multiple headphones so I know for sure it is something wrong with the phone. I was just wondering how I can fix the issue, and around how much it would cost. Thanks!

Who replaced the screens? Possibly they forgot to reconnect the headset jack or damaged it. There is usually a warranty on repairs done so you can just take it back.

I got it fixed at one of the chinese malls not sure if you have them around where you live. It's most likely that they would have not reconnected it back probably, however this place doesn't have warranty. If it's an issue like a re-connection error, would that be a lot to fix, or would it be something simple to fix? Thanks for your help!

There's a lot of Chinese malls around where I live. If I had a repair done by one, and then found it didn't work properly afterwards, I'd definitely take it back to him. If it's something he's done and messed up, it's something he can put right.

The S6 Edge wasn't made to be worked on without the proper tools and a lot of patience. See below for a pictorial tear-down:

While it does appear as if the place you had the screen replaced probably messed up the headphone jack somehow, it is a matter of pulling your phone apart completely to get to the display assembly. Not only is the back cover glued down (a lot of phones only require a fingernail to remove them) but the battery is glued in place too. You might want to try and remove the back cover yourself and checking the headphone jack module connection but if you take it back to the same place, give them a little compassion. This model is by design not a quick fix.
