Hi, I'm new to the Android Forums, and am coming here out of pure desperation.
Since purchasing my Nexus 5X, I have been getting intermittent problems with audio, wherein all sound from the main speaker will entirely disappear.
This problem comes and goes, and although I've done my best to look out for potential triggers, my search for the cause of the issue has been fruitless.
A common problem occurs with many phones where the device falsely detects a voice saying "Ok , Google", and cuts out all audio. This is not the problem...
While I'm currently running Android 7.1, this issue has persisted between Android versions, as the problem was also occurring on 7.0.
When the speaker works, it works flawlessly, with normal volume levels, and standard clarity. Furthermore, the problem was not directly affected by tapping or shaking the phone, so I doubt the problem's source is a loose connection. That being said, I have on more than one occasion noticed the speaker going slightly fuzzy and weak, before returning to normal, this makes me suspect some sort of issue with the gain.
A quick and rough logcat over adb showed me some errors that were consistent with this suspicion- the error in question is as follows.
volume_listener: check_and_set_gain_dep_cal: Failed to set gain dep cal level
Any insights whatsoever are appreciated, if you know of any technical wizards, please let them know!
While I can read C++ and java, I am not at-all familiar with Android itself, and my attempts at reading the source code only told me what the error message above already says.
Thanks in advance for any insights on a potential fix, I really miss my ringtone!!
