Aurora Borealis in NY?

Just saw the article on gizmodo (How The Biggest Solar Storm Since 2005 Is Going to Affect You), really hoping it gets down to where I am (Long Island) as I've never seen one in person. Also hoping that it lasts a couple hours because 9am is kind of early lol

As soon as it gets dark tonight (Tueday), and assuming you have clear skies, look north. You might catch a glimpse of auroras. The CME is forecast to hit Earth around 2pm UTC (9am EST) plus or minus 7 hours. Since it's 9am EST now, it could hit us any time between now and this afternoon. So maybe at 5 or 6pm, it will be dark enough to see.

My local news guy was just saying it was seen (last night) as far south as London. Not sure how much, if at all, more south LI is compared to London, but you may have a chance. Would love to see one myself, but not sure if there will be any in DC.
