Help Auto end list

Drekkyk

Newbie
I've read that task killers are bad now and I tend to agree with their argument. What about the auto end list that's available on our task list? Motorola says it smartly stops APPS after two minutes but does it? Some that I have set to shut off are still on after. What about apps like your keyboard or sms app? Shouldn't they remain on?
Has anyone tested the battery implications of those apps that remain on? I wonder if they keep starting in a loop and degrade battery life just like the task killers.

I read up on the subject & added many apps to the auto end list. Then I read further & took everything off that list! I was thinking PC/Mac where there is no reason to keep programs/applications open when you are not using them. This apparently is NOT true of Android.

First I read this:

Motorola Task Manager

Then I read these which made much sense:

Why You Don’t Need A Task Killer App With Android

Finally, this impressive article:

Motorola touts their auto end as a performance improver. In other words, by using it, you don't have to wait for the system to free memory if it needs to because this will help ensure enough memory is free.

I've went back and forth and am using it again. With ics looming, I'm curious to see if the auto end list remains.
