Hi everyone,
I have recently upgraded through orange to a Samsung Galaxy S, and although loving the phone, on problem is driving me mad.
When the phone is in auto mode in the 'network mode' menu it flat out refuses to communicate when in a 3G zone.
In auto, it will communicate data fine in a 2G zone, but when i get a 3G signal, despite looking like all is well (icon in the notification bar, and signal strength) nothing happens when i try to do any data communication (facebook, android marketplace, web browsing) it just goes to the timer and fails with a connection problems message. The upload and dowload arrows stay dark the whole time.
The strange thing however, is when manually changed to GSM mode only, it works fine, even in a 3G zone (obviously not connected to 3G though) but even stranger, when changed to WCDMA only mode... 3G works fine as well (where signal is present)
This is obviously doing my head in as i don't want to be constantly manually changing modes every time i go into a 3G area, and it makes the phone just about useless in a 3G area unless i remember to turn it to GSM mode only.
I've upgraded to gingerbread, and although a quick google search kinda suggests that that may have had something to do with that, since i upgraded as soon as i got my phone, i'm unsure if it was always like this or not...
I could obviously try a factory reset or just take it back to orange if i wanted to, but just wanted to check to see if anyone here had a similar problem and knew of a fix since i've already spent ages getting my phone just the way i want it.
