Auto-rotate screen

Hi everyone I am a new Galaxy Ace owner bear with me as it is my first smartphone. I have my auto-rotate ticked in the settings and it works perfectly well but when I go on line it sticks in the vertical position on the screen? Just wondering if this is the correct way for it to work or is there a way of making it auto-rotate many thanks in advance if you can help.

Many thanks for your quick response but alas I tried taking the batter out and it didnt work, also rebooted it after, and I have tried the horizontal calibration advice several times but this does not seem to have any affect. I guess I will just have to keep trying the calibration advice., very very frustrating.

Well after a lot of swearing and just short of throwing it in the river I found the problem if anyone is interested.There's a setting in ABOUT YOUR PHONE and on one of the pages it's got Landscape mode mine was ticked on :smokingsomb:
