Auto shut down when external power removed

Hi Guys,

I know very little about android and coding in general, but I've been directed to this site for people that do! ..... I hope you can help.

I'm looking at buying one of those apad/epad android tablets that are widely sold on ebay from the far east and was wondering about the following:

-Would it be possible to write some code to run on above mentioned device that would automatically start up the device when external power (i.e the charger) is applied, open an "unspecified" app, function normally, automatically initiate the shut down process when external power is removed for greater than 5 seconds.

Basically I need the device not to function on its own battery, only when external power is supplied.

I'll take a guess, and assume the powering up is going to be the difficult part as the software will not be awake to know if power has been applied or not!

I can provide any more details if required, thanks very much.

The Android phones I've played around with (Droid 1, Droid X, Incredible) all will turn on when plugged in. As far as opening an app and turning it off when it's unplugged, maybe Tasker can handle this sort of thing.

Yeah, when I said "turning it off" I should have said turning the phone off. Theres a thread for Tasker, perhaps someone has already figured this out.
