Help auto sync calender and contacts with outlook

Hi, I just thought I'd add something that is working really well for me. I had wanted to find a way to sync calendar on phone with Outlook calendar without having to connect phone with HTC sync. I thought it would be good to be able to do contacts too. I found Sync2 which you install on computer and it sync Outlook with gmail contacts and calendar. So assuming, phone is sync with gmail this will then automatically sync with Outlook. Never a need to physically connect phone to computer. You do have to pay for it but for me the small cost I think is well worth it.

I had a look at that but got the impression that I would still need to actively connect phone to computer, usb, Bluetooth or otherwise. Have I missed something and wasted money. Sync auto updates bothgmail and therefore phone and computer as and when I make changes to phone or Outlook.

I have tried this also, but for some reason I was having issues with duplicate entries..and it also doesn't do contacts I don't think.

I would like to know if I'm wrong about myphoneexplorer and how you sync with it. I thought you had to connect phone to computer in some way and I entry something that I could update calendar or contacts on either phone or outlook and the software automatically updated the other

MPE syncs contacts and calendar and does so via USB or Wifi. At the end of the day it is a free download so it is easier to just try it out.

I'm happy to pay a score or so to have the sync happen automatically wherever I am. It saves me from having to remember to sync calendars. It also means I can update my calender on my phone and it will update my Outlook, so if anyone looking ay my diary has the most up to date sync.

I've been trying to find the best solution to this, so thanks for the tips in this thread.

Which calendar app are you using - and does this matter in relation to being able to sync with Outlook?

I didn't much like the stock calendar app and have tried out the Jorte one, but the language is really annoying me. It's half translated into a very poor Danish (my phone's language is Danish), but I'd rather have an app that's in English than a poorly translated one.

It makes no difference which calendar app you use on the Android in terms of the sync.
My own experience which if you read a few threads on this forum and others is that Google Calendar Sync (free) is the best solution for an automated sync of Outlook and Android. No connection is needed as it happens via the cloud.
In terms of contacts, sadly there is no free equivalent and the sync between Android and Google contacts can be unreliable with lots of people finding sync errors. This is why I use MyPhoneExplorer. It is free and syncs reliably for me.

The calendar apps on the Desire - will they auto sync with Google Calendar (if so, how often) or do I need to select 'sync' somewhere in the app each time?

I've now set up my phone with CalenGoo which syncs automatically with Google Calendar on the web. On my home PC I've installed Google Calendar Sync which in turn syncs Google Calendar with Outlook (2007). At work I think I'll just use Google Calendar instead of attempting to sync with Outlook (Exchange) on my work PC - I'm not sure how that would work.

I might check out gSyncit to have my tasks synced as well.

There is no problem with running multiple instances of GoogleCalendarSync. I run it at home and at work which uses exchange.
