Help Auto Synchronise (just) Google Contacts

Can I "auto synchronise" Google contacts with my google account without synchronising the other Google bundled chrome and calendar etc.
Using a Samsung S5
(I know it works manually with a tap, but I'd like to automate this synchronising).

Settings > Accounts > Google > Select account > Select what to sync.

Yes, I know that. I can "tap to synchronise now". But I want it to synchronise automatically. If I turn that on it synchronises everything which I don't want. Or am I missing something?

If you go to:
Settings > Accounts > Google > Select account > Select what to sync
...you can select what you want to sync. Contacts only if you disable sync for everything else. If you leave contacts enabled they will sync automatically.

IOW, when you tap on the name of the Google account, you should get another menu where there's a list of all the items to sync. Choose what you want to sync.
