Help Auto Time Setting Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1

weirb

Lurker
I have a Tab 4 and I am trying to set the time to automatic sync but the option is missing from the date and time settings menu. Info on the Internet suggests that there should be an option to set the time automatically but I don't have this. Any ideas why?

Do your settings not look sort of like this?

That's from my phone - and could be the difference.

On a tablet you'd have to be able to specify a network time server and access it via wifi.

Surprised if Samsung doesn't let you do that. Even if you don't have constant network access, it would still make sense to include it.

Check out "ClockSync"

That requires root, the app description explains Google's policy on the subject.

I *think* that Android devices generally use the cellular network location to determine the correct time zone, and are then able to to use that information to set time by NTP.

Since your device doesn't have a cellular radio (I'm assuming!), it's not able to automatically determine its time zone. I think that's why the option appears to be missing on many wifi-only devices.
