Autocorrect doesn't automatically correct???

Hi,

Just got myself a motorola defy with 2.2.2. I find it odd that my autocorrect points out spelling mistakes and gives suggestions but i have to automatically choose the top one, which it it usually is...

was I spoiled with my iphone, or does android's autocorrect not... auto(matically)correct?

Hi cmattina1, and welcome to AF

Maybe check your keyboard's settings - there may be an option for whether spacebar selects the suggestion or not (I'd expect the default to be "on", as I generally turn this off, but maybe not in this case).

You can also install an alternative keyboard app if you prefer - there are a number of these available in the Play Store.

Funny, I want the opposite behavior...I hate that mine automatically corrects for me, I wish it would offer suggestions but accept what I type unless I choose one of the suggestions.

Depends entirely on the keyboard, since I use a Samsung, I have Swype installed. Some brands have autocorrect/autoinsert correction turned off by default. You'd have to enable it.
