Help Autofocus broken

Fairly recently, sometime after May 9th, the autofocus on my Nexus 5 has stopped working. Not just in one app, either. All three of the camera apps on my phone (including the built-in) have the same problem. Even tapping on the screen will not get it to focus.

I started using a Qi charger a while back, but I've been using it for weeks before this problem occurred. I did learn that the ring around the camera lens has a magnet of its own (for snap-on lens accessories), so could over-use of any magnets near it cause a lockup in the focus mechanisms? More importantly, how do I fix it?

Remove the Qi receiver and ask for a warranty replacement. A Qu charger shouldn't cause the autofocus to stop working. (If it did, the phone doesn't meet warranty of merchantability standards, because there are electromagnetic fields all over the civilized world. And in most places, warranties of merchantability can't be waived. IOW, if the phone can't do what it's sold to do [autofocusing is one of the things it's sold to do] under normal circumstances [standing in front of a source of a large electromagnetic field is normal in most parts of the first world], it can't be sold. It would be like selling a car that can't run in the rain.)

But I _want_ to use the Qi charger, because of its convenience. I could stop using it for a while, see if the problem goes away.

I think "removing the Qi receiver" was meant as a troubleshooting step, to see if that is what caused the issue.

The remainder of the post is what is important, that if it was the Qi charger that caused it you should get a warranty replacement. The phone is designed to be used with a Qi charger and, if you can't, then the phone has an issue. There should be no issue using the replacement phone with a Qi charger.
