Automate bluetooth keyboard

athegn

Android Expert
I would like a button on my Tab 2 10.1 (OS 4.2.2) Home screen that automates the following:-

Open Settings 》Language and input 》Keyboards and Input methods 》Default - select Samsung keyboard
Open Wireless Killer 》Disable bluetooth - uncheck
Open Settings》Bluetooth - turn on Bluetooth and select, already paired, Anker Bluetooth Keyboard (keyboard will be switched on)

Another button or toggle to reverse I.e:-

Open Settings 》Language and input 》Keyboards and Input methods 》Default - select Hackers keyboard
Open Wireless Killer 》Disable bluetooth - check
Open Settings》Bluetooth - turn off Bluetooth (maybe not necessary as Wireless Killer should turn off Bluetooth when checked)

Is this even possible; without delving deeply into coding.

Any advice please?

Hi athegn,

As jae_63 mentioned, Tasker should be able to do exactly what you ask. I've moved your posts into the Tasker subforum so that some of our smart Tasker gurus will be able to assist you with creating the appropriate tasks/profiles.

BTW, I believe you can download a 7-day trial for free directly from the developer's site: tasker.dinglisch.net/download.html That will let you evaluate whether or not Tasker will suit your needs before committing to buy it.

Thanks for the Tasker advice.

I did install Tasker last year but did no more, than install, with it.

I have started to read some things about Tasker and one task that may cause me trouble is:-

Open Setting > Language and Input > Keyboard and input methods > Default - select Samsung keyboard.

Does this require root? I would use the bluetooth keyboard on two Galaxy tablets and two Galaxy phones; none of which will be rooted.

Second I have viewed the two videos in post 10 of this thread:-

http://androidforums.com/tasker/816525-bluetooth-auto-off.html

Using the first I have created a task but fell at the first hurdle when trying to start it. On neither my Jelly Bean tablet not KitKat phone would long press on Home screen bring up the "Shortcuts" facility. On Jelly Bean with long press I get:-

Set Wallpaper
Apps and Widgets
Folder
Page

On KitKat I get:-

Wallpaper
Widgets
Home Screen Settings

Any advice on these two questions please?

I am pretty certain that the activities you have described won't require root.

For your second question, select Widgets. Then select Tasker from the list, and 'Task' from the two available options.
