automatic shut off + battery drain

so I've had my phone for about 18 months, its not rooted, but lately its not holding a charge. occasionally it will automatically shut off (with over 50% battery life), and when i turn it back on it shows 0% battery than automatically shut down again. It used to happen when i had around 10-20% battery left, now it's even happening at 70%. My phone gets heavy usage, I charge it every night, and within the last year, I have it plugged in half the day while i'm at work while using it, in addition to charging it at night.

do you guys think it's a battery issue? I've gone through approximately 1,000 charges on it since I've had it. thanks

It's a battery issue. I bet it's even swelled some, I had the exact same thing. Buy a new one and keep the old one as a backup with you.

I bet the screen flickers as well around 20-40%
