Automatic updates over 3G?

I believe the Market app is what handles updating other apps. However it does a number of things to try and be "polite" to your connection and battery. For instance it will look for updates when in a dock and/or when on WiFi if it can -- I think eventually it will try to use the 3G but generally it will *try* to be polite.
Personally I have disabled the update notifications and the auto updates completely, mostly because I like to control each update myself.
(Though it's weird I cant seem to find the notification setting in the "new" android market)
