Help Automatically connect to Wi-Fi?

Is there a way? God, it's so annoying to have to manually connect over and over again in my own home. Sure, it only takes a few seconds, but still...

It auto-connects by default, is your network remembered?

On a similar note, how do I prevent the Nexus from connecting to random open wifi networks. When I'm streaming music in the car with 3g and I happen to come across an open network, it joins the network and the player disconnects and I have to restart it. I suppose I could just shut the wifi off till I get to my destination, but I would like a solution where I don't have to think about it.
